Jets sign 2021 first-round pick Chaz Lucius to entry-level contract

The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Chaz Lucius to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Lucius’ contract will begin in the 2022-23 season and carry a $1.325 million cap hit.

The 18-year-old was selected 19th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft by the Jets. During his freshman season with the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Lucius had nine goals and 19 points.

Prior to playing in the NCAA, the Lawrence, Kan., native had 13 goals in 12 games in the USHL with the U.S. National Development Team. He was also selected to play for Team USA at the 2022 world junior hockey championship but only appeared in one game before the tournament was postponed.
