Jets sign Nino Niederreiter to three-year, $12M contract extension

Winnipeg Jets forward Nino Niederreiter talks about signing a three-year contract extension with the Winnipeg Jets, why he was happy to get the deal done, and talks about the confidence he has in the team moving forward.

The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Nino Niederreiter to a three-year, $12 million extension, the club announced Monday.

Niederreiter, 31, has six goals and eight assists in 23 games with the Jets this season.

The Jets acquired the Swiss native in a trade with the Nashville Predators in February.

The six-foot-two Niederreiter has 211 goals and 212 assists for 423 career points with the New York Islanders, Minnesota Wild, Carolina Hurricanes, Predators and Jets.

The Islanders selected Niederreiter fifth overall in the 2010 NHL Draft.

Internationally, Niederreiter has represented Switzerland multiple times at the world junior championship and world championship. He also played for Europe at the 2016 World Cup.
