Detroit Red Wings forward Joe Veleno has agreed to a two-year, $4.55 million deal with the team to avoid arbitration, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported on Friday. The deal is worth $2.275 AAV.

The 24-year-old is coming off a one-year contract which came with a $825,000 cap hit. Last season, he put up a career-high 12 goals and 28 points, albeit in a limited role where he averaged 13:57 of ice time.

The Red Wings selected the Montreal native in the first round of the 2018 NHL Draft.
