The Los Angeles Kings have signed defenceman Brandt Clarke, the eighth selection in last month’s 2021 NHL Draft, to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced Tuesday.

The deal carries an average annual value of $925,000.

The right-shot offensive defenceman put up 15 points in 26 games last season for Slovakia’s HC Nove Zamky with OHL on hold amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clark — a 6-2, 190-pound rearguard blessed with silky hands and poise from the blue line — previously recorded 38 points across 57 games in his rookie season with the Barrie Colts

The Ottawa native also helped Canada to a gold medal at the 2021 IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship last spring, collecting seven points in seven games.
