Kings sign second-overall pick Quinton Byfield to entry-level deal

Quinton Byfield, the 2nd overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, joined Tim and Sid and spoke about this years unique draft and what he's hoping to learn from some of the veterans on the Los Angeles Kings.

The Los Angeles Kings have signed forward Quinton Byfield to a three-year entry-level contract.

Byfield, 18, scored 32 goals and added 50 assists in just 45 games with the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves last season.

The Newmarket, Ont., native is the highest selected Black player in NHL history, passing Evander Kane and Seth Jones, who both went fourth overall in 2009 and 2013, respectively.

“It was something super special,” he said of the draft during a recent appearance on Tim & Sid. “You know, even though you couldn’t walk up on stage and shake all the people’s hands up there, it was still something really special, and you got to share that moment with your family. So, you know, I wouldn’t change that day for the world.
