The NHL and Adidas have unveiled the uniforms the Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights will wear when they face off at the NHL Winter Classic in January.
The game will take place at T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners, in Seattle on New Year’s Day.
Seattle’s jersey is inspired by the Seattle Metropolitans, who played in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association from 1915 to 1924 and were the first American team to win the Stanley Cup in 1917.
The shirt provides a distinctive and vintage twist on the Kraken kit, featuring blue and cream stripes and the year “1917” on the collar. The front features a felt “S” logo with meticulously crafted lettering and numbering that nods to the hand-sewn hockey sweaters from Seattle’s past.
The Golden Knights’ uniform also draws from their hockey roots. Vintage white and heritage gold replace their typical bright gold, while filigree petals and chain accents have been added to the “V” and player names and numbers.
Barber pole socks and a cursive “Vegas” wordmark on the pants complement the Golden Knights’ entire kit.
The 2024 NHL Winter Classic Event Patch is included on the right shoulder of both uniforms.
