Lightning add blue-line depth, sign Cole to one-year deal

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed defenceman Ian Cole to a one-year, $3-million contract on Wednesday.

The 18th overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft spent last season with the Carolina Hurricanes. The veteran had scored the overtime goal in Game 1 of the Canes’ second-round series against the New York Rangers.

Cole picked up two goals and 17 assists in 75 games for Carolina in the 2021-22 season.
