Tampa Bay Lightning forward Alex Killorn will have a hearing with the NHL’s department of player safety on Thursday for his hit on New York Islanders centre Brock Nelson during Wednesday’s game.
During the first period of an eventual 2-1 win for the Lightning, Killorn delivered a shoulder hit to Nelson well after he’d already played the puck. Nelson went face-first into the boards and finished the game with just 10:48 time on ice — his lowest total of the playoffs.
Killorn, meanwhile, was issued a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct. In 14 games this post-season, Killorn has four goals, seven points and 12 penalty minutes.
Tampa Bay leads the Eastern Conference Final over New York, 2-0.
