Maple Leafs’ Acciari leaves game following hit to the head by Hurricanes’ Puljujarvi

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Noel Acciari left the ice with an apparent injury at 19:45 of the first period in their game on Friday against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Leafs announced that Acciari would not return to the game during the second period for precautionary reasons.

Hurricanes forward Jesse Puljujarvi dealt Acciari a high hit along the blue line as the Leafs forward was entering Toronto’s zone.

Acciari fell to the ice holding his face and left for the locker room immediately after the whistle. No penalty was called on the play.

After the game, Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe said he had no update on Acciari.

The 31-year-old has collected 21 points (13 goals, eight assists) in 66 games so far this season.
