Maple Leafs recall F Joey Anderson from Marlies

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe discusses why Joey Anderson deserved to get called up, praising the young star for his play with the Marlies and how the timing is right with injuries.

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced that they have recalled forward Joey Anderson from the Toronto Marlies.

Anderson gets the call after Nick Robertson suffered a shoulder injury in the Maple Leafs’ 5-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night.

The 24-year-old has scored 11 goals and 19 points in 21 AHL games this season.

The New Jersey Devils’ third-round pick in 2016, Anderson has played 58 career NHL games — six with Toronto — scoring eight goals and 13 points.
