The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Joey Anderson, acquired from the New Jersey Devils earlier this month for Andreas Johnsson, to a three-year contract extension, the team announced Friday.

The deal carries an average annual value of $750,000 and is a two-way agreement for its first two years.

Anderson, who was originally selected by the New Jersey Devils 73rd overall in the 2016 NHL Draft, split the 2019-20 season between New Jersey and its AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Devils.

In 18 games with the Devils, he recorded four goals and two assists. He had 34 points in 44 games with Binghamton.
