Toronto Maple Leafs first-line winger Michael Bunting is expected to miss some time after leaving Saturday’s game against the Florida Panthers with an undisclosed injury.
Bunting, who typically plays alongside Leafs leading scorer Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner, took a puck to the face and fell awkwardly during a sequence of events in the first period. After taking the puck to the face, he was seen wincing and held his face, before continuing his shift.
After the game, head coach Sheldon Keefe said Bunting did not suffer the injury from the puck hitting him in the face.
Keefe could not provide a timeline for how long he expects Bunting to be out. Toronto only has three games left in the regular season.
