Matthew Knies, Easton Cowan headline Maple Leafs’ rookie tournament roster

Toronto Maple Leafs first-rounder Easton Cowan said that he's taking it all in during his first rookie camp with the team and said that his "welcome to the Leafs" moment was just seeing how big teammate Matthew Knies is.

Toronto Maple Leafs fans will get their first opportunity to see Easton Cowan play at the upcoming Traverse City Prospect Tournament.

Cowan and Leafs top prospect Matthew Knies headline the roster that will play in the four-team tournament against prospects from the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars and Detroit Red Wings. The tournament takes place Sept. 14-17 at Centre ICE Arena in Traverse City, Mich.

The roster features a total of 14 forwards, nine defencemen and three goaltenders.

Knies will be looking to build off an impressive start to his NHL career, where he had four points in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Along with Cowan, fellow Leafs pick from the 2023 NHL Draft Noah Chadwick is featured on the roster, along with Toronto’s second-round pick from the 2022 NHL Draft, Fraser Minten.

Toronto Marlies head coach John Gruden will oversee the team, along with coaching staff from across the organization, including Michael Dyck, Eric Wellwood, Hannu Toivonen, Troy Paquette and Harry Mahesh.
