Fans are going to get a real-time look at some of the key stats during NHL games every week on Rogers Monday Night Hockey presented by Pepsi and Desjardins with the new SN NOW Stats Central stream.

Beginning with this Monday’s Arizona Coyotes-Toronto Maple Leafs contest, a reverse LBar on-screen graphic will cycle through some of the most important numbers throughout the game. The graphic will be available for one game each Monday exclusively on SN NOW.

“We tried something (similar) a few years ago at an NHL All-Star Game where player and puck-tracking started,” said Rob Corte, Vice-President, Sportsnet and NHL Production. “We were looking for some things to feature on Monday night. The technology is significantly better now and the player and puck-tracking is much better than it was back then.”

Stats like ice time, hits, offensive-zone time and average length of shift will cycle through the LBar, which will remain on screen during play.

“We thought we’d try to do some different things and have a little more technologically-based and analytic-based broadcast and offerings,” Corte said. “The game itself will have the player and puck-tracking (stats) and analytics but the real deep dive into that is the SN NOW offering.

“The material is available, the information is there. We just have to find ways to present it.”

David Amber, Cassie Campbell-Pascall, Anson Carter and Keith Yandle will be on the Rogers Monday Night Hockey panel and Corte says the studio show will have more virtual and augmented reality.

Fans can watch Monday’s Leafs-Coyotes game at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet NOW.
