Edmonton Oilers defenceman Markus Niemelainen has been fined $2,043.75 for cross-checking Winnipeg Jets forward Kristian Vesalainen.
The incident occurred during the second period of Saturday’s game between the Jets and Oilers. No penalty was assessed on the play.
The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
