Oilers sign defenceman Philip Kemp to three-year, entry-level deal

The Edmonton Oilers have signed Yale University defenceman Philip Kemp to a three-year, entry-level contract through the 2022-23 season, the team announced Wednesday.

The 21-year-old, who was selected by the Oilers in the seventh round of the 2017 NHL Draft (208th overall), recorded 11 points in 32 games with the Bulldogs during the 2019-20 campaign. Kemp was also named to the ECAC conference All-Academic Team, his third selection for the squad.

He was named team captain before the 2020-21 season was cancelled on Nov. 12.

The six-foot-three, 210-pound D-man notched 27 points across 88 games and three seasons with Yale.
