Oilers to face Kings in first round of playoffs

Connor McDavid had three assists and scored from a steep angle as the Edmonton Oilers rolled over the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1.

The Edmonton Oilers will face the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Kings clinched third in the Pacific Division when the Dallas Stars beat the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 in a shootout on Tuesday.

About an hour earlier, the Oilers locked up second in the Pacific with a 5-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

It marks the first Oilers-L.A. series since Edmonton won in six games over Wayne Gretzky’s Kings in the first round in 1992.
