The Florida Panthers have signed breakout star Carter Verhaeghe to a three-year contract extension beginning in 2022-23.

Verhaeghe, 25, had 18 goals and 36 points in 43 games last season after joining the Panthers from the Tampa Bay Lightning. He has one more year on his current two-year, $2 million contract.

“Carter emerged as one of the best possession forwards in hockey last season, elevating his game to fill an important role on our team,” said general manager Bill Zito. “His effort, speed and creativity are infectious on and off the ice.”
