Predators grant Tyson Barrie permission to talk to other teams

The Nashville Predators have given defenceman Tyson Barrie permission to talk to other teams in hopes of finding a better fit elsewhere, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Saturday.

Barrie is expected to be a healthy scratch against the New York Rangers as the Predators try to find a trading partner.

The 32-year-old is a pending unrestricted free agent and has nine points while averaging 18:51 of ice time in 22 games with Nashville this season.

Barrie was traded to the Predators from the Edmonton Oilers last year as part of the return for defenceman Mattias Ekholm.
