Rangers re-sign forward Kaapo Kakko to two-year deal

The New York Rangers re-signed restricted free agent Kaapo Kakko to a two-year contract on Thursday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team but CapFriendly reports the contract carries an average annual value of $2.1 million.

The 21-year-old from Turku, Finland, recorded seven goals and 11 assists in 43 games while battling through injuries during the regular season plus two goals and three assists in 19 playoff games.

Kakko was drafted second overall by New York in 2019 and has 26 goals and 32 assists for 58 points over the past three seasons with the Blueshirts.
