Ryan O’Reilly agrees to four-year, $18M contract with Predators

The Hockey Central Signing Season panel discusses Ryan O'Reilly reportedly signing a four-year deal with the Nashville Predators, and how general manager Barry Trotz is looking to put his stamp on his new team.

The Nashville Predators and centre Ryan O’Reilly, a former Conn Smythe Trophy winner, have agreed to a four-year, $18-million contract.

The St. Louis Blues dealt the three-time All-Star to the Toronto Maple Leafs before last season’s trade deadline.

O’Reilly, 32, helped the Leafs win their first playoff series in 19 years against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the spring. Toronto then was eliminated in five games by the Florida Panthers in the second round.

O’Reilly had 16 goals and 14 assists in 53 combined regular-season games with the Blues and Leafs last season. He added three goals and six assists in 11 playoff games.

The six-foot-one O’Reilly won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 2019 when the Blues won the Stanley Cup. He had eight goals and 15 assists in 26 playoff games that season.

O’Reilly has 256 goals and 446 assists for 702 points in 991 career games with the Colorado Avalanche, Buffalo Sabres, Blues and Maple Leafs.

The Avs took the Erie Otters product in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft.
