The Ottawa Senators have placed forward Colin White on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a buyout, a move that will see him become a free agent at just 25 years old.

Because of his age, the buyout will only cost the Senators 1/3rd of the remaining value. According to CapFriendly, the buyout will last six years, spanning until 2028, and will cost $875,000 in all but 2024-25.

White, a former first-round pick for Ottawa, played six seasons in Canada’s capital, recording 36 goals and 98 points in 224 games.

He posted the best numbers of his career in 2018-19, his first full season in the NHL, when he notched 41 points.
