The Dallas Stars inked free agent defenceman Colin Miller to a two-year contract, the team announced Wednesday. Miller’s deal will pay him an average of $1.85 million per year.
The 29-year-old is coming off a four-year, $15.5-million deal signed with the Buffalo Sabres in 2018. Miller had 14 points in 38 games with Buffalo in 2021-22 and was often used in power-play situations.
Miller is a right-shot blueliner just like John Klingberg, who remained unsigned and available on the open market at the time the Stars announced the Miller signing.
“Colin is a puck-moving defenceman that will add experience and a right shot to our defensive core,” Stars general manager Jim Nill stated in a press release. “We are excited to have him under contract with our organization for the next two years.”
Miller has split his 387 career regular-season NHL games between Buffalo, Vegas and Boston.
The Stars were reportedly interested in Brent Burns before the 2017 Norris winner was dealt to the Hurricanes on Wednesday afternoon.
Dallas signed forward Mason Marchment to a four-year deal earlier on Wednesday.
