Toronto Maple Leafs sign defenceman Simon Benoit to three-year contract extension

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenceman Simon Benoit to a three-year, $4.05-million contract extension, the team announced Friday.

Benoit joined the Maple Leafs as a free agent on a one-year deal ahead of this season and has one goal and four assists in 55 games. The AAV of the deal is $1.35 million.

The 25-year-old from Laval, Que., was undrafted and made his NHL debut during the 2020-21 season with the Anaheim Ducks.

He has 20 points (five goals and 15 assists) in 191 games over four seasons with Anaheim and Toronto.
