For the Winnipeg Jets, the end of the All-Star break marked a return to the harsh reality of their situation: in order to claw their way back into something resembling a place of contention, they’ll likely need to play at a .600 clip for the remainder of the regular season.
It’s a daunting task, one the team played its way into after a prolonged period of inconsistency set against the backdrop of postponements brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. But, with so little room for error, the Jets’ choices — on and off the ice — will take on an even greater importance in the weeks to come.
Kevin Cheveldayoff, the team’s executive vice president and general manager, will be tasked with making some of those decisions.
