The Minnesota Wild and forward Kevin Fiala have avoided arbitration and agreed to a one-year, $5.1 million contract, according to Sportsnet‘s Elliotte Friedman.
Fiala’s arbitration hearing was set for Aug. 17, Friedman previously reported the Wild were entering arbitration asking for $4 million, while Fiala’s camp was asking for $6.25 million.
Fiala was coming off a two-year, $6 million deal he signed with the Wild in 2019. He’ll remain an RFA at the end of the 2021-22 season.
The Wild acquired Fiala in exchange for forward Mikael Granlund in February 2019 and the 25-year-old has since produced 101 points in 133 games in Minnesota.
Last season, he put up 20 goals and 20 assists in 50 games to finish second in team scoring behind Calder Trophy-winner Kirill Kaprizov, who’s still without a contract heading into next season.
