Santino Ferrucci will not race in the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy Toronto following a crash during Sunday morning's warmup session.
The AJ Foyt Racing driver lost control through Turn 7 and crashed into the barrier.
Ferrucci was seen and cleared by the medical team, but AJ Foyt Racing said repairs to his car would not be completed in time for the afternoon race.
"Following the incident in morning warmup, the damage sustained to the car requires extensive repairs that cannot be completed to the standard of safety and performance necessary to race," the team said in a statement. "While this is a difficult decision for the team, the safety of our driver and crew remains our top priority."
Ferrucci, who is 10th in the standings, qualified 23rd for the race.
Andretti Global driver Colton Herta, who won last year's Toronto race from pole position, qualified in the top spot once again.
The race at Exhibition Place has been extended by five laps this year to 90.
