One of the top goaltenders in the OHL is on the move.
The Soo Greyhounds acquired Team Canada star Carter George from the Owen Sound Attack in a blockbuster trade on Wednesday.
George, 19, is coming off a bronze-medal-winning performance at the world juniors with Canada. The Los Angeles Kings prospect made four starts for Canada in the tournament, including the bronze-medal-game win over Finland.
In the OHL, George has a 10-9-2 record this season with a .899 save percentage and 3.12 goals-against average. The Thunder Bay, Ont., native has made 135 appearances in the OHL over the past four seasons.
“I’m incredibly grateful for my time with the Attack. I’d like to thank all my coaches, teammates, fans and the entire organization for giving me all the opportunities and developing me into the player and person I am today. I will always remember the memories created in Owen Sound,” George said in a statement.
“At the same time, I am excited for this opportunity to start this new chapter with the Soo Greyhounds. There’s a strong belief in this group — I’m coming in motivated and focused on doing whatever it takes to help this team compete for a championship.”
The Attack are acquiring seven draft picks in exchange for George:
Third-round pick (2026, Soo)
Second-round pick (2027, Owen Sound)
Fourth-round pick (2027, Oshawa)
Second-round pick (2028, Soo)
Third-round pick (2028, Soo)
Second-round pick (2029, Soo)

The Greyhounds are third in the West Division with 44 points, trailing both the Windsor Spitfires and Flint Firebirds.
