One of Canada's top junior goaltenders plans to continue his development in the NCAA.
Jack Ivankovic, the backup for Canada's 2025 world junior team and a member of the OHL's Brampton Steelheads the past two seasons, has committed to the University of Michigan, per College Hockey Inc. Ivankovic's start date is listed as the 2026-27 season, though those can change.
The five-foot-11 Ivankovic, 18, is listed as the fourth-ranked North American goaltender for the NHL Draft later this month.
Along with playing one game for Canada at the world juniors, Ivankovic starred for the country at the world under-18 championship last month in Texas, posting a 1.05 goals-against average and .961 save percentage in seven games for the gold medal-winning team.
The native of Mississauga, Ont., is the latest big name to commit to an NCAA program before junior eligibility winds up following a rule change allowing CHL players to play U.S. college hockey starting next season.
Erie Otters forward Malcolm Spence and Sudbury Wolves defenceman Henry Mews are two other prominent OHL players to commit to Michigan with junior eligibility remaining. Spence is a first-round prospect for this year's NHL Draft, while Mews was a third-round pick of the Calgary Flames last year.
