A London Knights star won't return to the ice until the OHL completes a review of an impaired driving charge from this past weekend.
Defenceman Cameron Allen has been suspended pending the league's investigation of an incident from early Saturday morning, the OHL said Tuesday.
London Police said in a press release they responded to a 911 call in relation to a single-vehicle collision at approximately 3:20 a.m. ET on Saturday. Police were told blood appeared to be located on the driver's side door and leading away from the vehicle.
Officers arrived and located the vehicle. The driver was located and arrested a short distance away. One of the passengers was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Allen was given five charges, including impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 6.
The 20-year-old Allen, a fifth-round pick by the Washington Capitals in 2023, was acquired by the league-leading Knights from the Guelph Storm earlier this season. The Toronto native has 11 goals and 31 assists for 42 points in 45 games with Guelph and London this season.
Allen was invited to the Canadian junior team's selection camp earlier this season in Ottawa, but was cut prior to the world junior championship.
