Canada now knows which team it will face in the Olympics men's hockey semifinals.
The Canadians will face Finland on Friday, while the United States will play Slovakia in the other semifinal. Puck drop for the Canada-Finland game will be at 10:40 a.m. ET/ 7:40 a.m. PT.
The winners will play for gold on Sunday.
Both the Canadians and Finns needed to come from behind to win their quarterfinal games.
Canada erased 2-1 and 3-2 deficits to force overtime before Mitch Marner scored the winner against Czechia. Finland rallied from 2-0 down late in the third period to force overtime against Switzerland before Artturi Lehkonen scored the game-winner.
It will be the first meeting between the two hockey powerhouses this tournament. Through the preliminary round, Canada went undefeated, dispatching their opponents with a plus-17 goal differential and allowed just three goals against.
Finland got off to a less-than-ideal start to the tournament, dropping their opener 4-1 to Slovakia. They found their groove after the loss, though, and stomped Italy to a 11-0 score then beat their rival Sweden 4-1 to close out round-robin play.
Canada's Connor McDavid leads tournament scoring with 11 points in four games, while Lehkonen leads the Finns with five points.
Canada may also be without two important players — defenceman Josh Morrissey was injured in the tournament opener and has not played since, while captain Sidney Crosby was forced to exit against Czechia with a lower-body injury.
Following a thrilling overtime victory on Tuesday against Sweden, the United States locked their place in the second semifinal against Slovakia.
