The Canadian women's hockey team is heading to the semifinals at the Beijing Olympics.

Canada (5-0) rolled to an 11-0 win over Sweden in quarterfinal play on Friday, booking a spot in the final four.

The one-sided win was in stark contrast to the quarterfinal victory recorded by Canada's chief rival -- the United States.

The Americans were tied at 1-1 into the third period before finally breaking through for a 4-1 win over the Czech Republic.

The U.S. won gold at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, beating Canada in a shootout.

Russia will face Switzerland, and Finland takes on Japan in the other quarterfinals.

Canada played backup goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer against Sweden, opting to give Ann-Renee Desbiens the day off after her 51-save win over the United States.

Canada outshot Sweden 56-11.

Sarah Fillier and Brianne Jenner each had hat tricks for Canada.

Marie-Philip Poulin and Sarah Nurse each had four assists.

It was the first Canada-Sweden game at the Olympics since 2010, when the Canadians won 13-1 in Vancouver.
