Canada has finished the first half of the Winter Olympics without one gold medal.
The country had two strong contenders in the men's short-track speedskating 1,500 metres to wrap up Saturday's schedule, but William Dandjinou and Steven Dubois missed the podium in a wild race.
Dubois, the 2022 Olympic silver medallist, fell early in Saturday's nine-man final and ended up sixth.
Dandjinou, the reigning world champ at the distance, was bumped by Korea's Shin Dong Min midway through the race while sitting second. The Canadian ended up fifth, in the aftermath of his fourth-place finish in the 1,000 metres.
Dubois has had a rough Olympics. He did not qualify for the 1,000-metre final, though him and Dandjinou did help Canada win silver in the mixed relay.
Jens van't Wout of the Netherlands won gold, South Korea's Daeheon Hwang took silver and Latvia's Roberts Kruzbergs took bronze.
Canada has eight medals overall through eight days — three silver and five bronze.
