Canada is one win away from having two Olympic volleyball entries.
The national men's team beat Mexico in straight sets (25-21, 25-18, 25-13) in the semifinals of a qualification tournament on Saturday in Moncton, N.B.
It will play Cuba later Saturday with a spot in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics on the line.
Canada's women's volleyball team locked up its first Olympic ticket since 1996 when it won a qualifier of its own in August.
The men's squad competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics, but placed 10th after failing to win a match during the group stage.
Canada ranked 13th in the world entering the four-team qualification tournament, three spots ahead of Cuba, which beat No. 45 Dominican Republic in its semifinal.
Captain Eric Loeppky of Winnipeg led Canada with 17 points in the win against Mexico.
