The winners of Canada's three gold medals have been chosen as flag bearers for the closing ceremonies of the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games.
The duo consists of Para nordic skier Natalie Wilkie, who earned four medals for Canada, and Mark Ideson, who skipped Canada to its first wheelchair curling gold in eight years.
Wilkie, a three-time Paralympian, earned golds in the Para biathlon women's standing individual and sprint pursuit events, silver in the Para biathlon women's standing sprint and bronze in Para cross country women's standing sprint classic.
The 25-year-old now has 11 Paralympic medals to her name. She is the first-ever Canadian to be selected to bear the flag at the opening and closing ceremony of the same Games.
Ideson, 49, skipped Canada to an undefeated wheelchair curling tournament for the first time in history. The four-time Paralympian made his debut in 2014 and has earned two gold and two bronze medals over his career.
