The 17-year-old Asselin, from Quebec City, finished 11th in qualifying on Monday to reach the 12-woman final (Monday, 8:30 p.m. ET).
Megan Oldham of Parry Sound, Ont., finished 13th and just missed advancing.
Asselin is coming off an eighth-place finish in the Olympic big air event.
Big air champ Eileen Gu of China, one of the biggest stars of the Games, also advanced to the slopestyle final, finishing third in qualifying.
She overcame a number of bobbles in her first qualifying run to nail down a solid second trip down the mountain and secure her spot in the top 12.
The 18-year-old American-born freestyler is competing for her mother’s home country of China at the Beijing Games.
While Gu awaited her score after the second run, she stood at the bottom and ate a dumpling. Then, she rushed off to the halfpipe, where practice had begun about an hour earlier.
Kelly Sildaru of Estonia won the qualifier and Johanne Killi of Norway was second.
