Switzerland earned a shot to face Canada in the Olympic women's hockey semifinals after a dramatic 4-2 win over the Russians in quarterfinal action on Saturday in Beijing.

With less than three minutes left, and just 30 seconds after Russia had tied the game, Alina Muller scored the go-ahead goal off a give-and-go with Lara Stalder.

Muller added an empty-netter and had an assist earlier in the game, setting up a clash with Canada on Sunday at 11:10 p.m. ET.

Unbeaten Canada clobbered the Swiss 12-1 in the opener for both teams.

Canada beat the Swiss 4-0 in the semifinals of the World Championship last year in Calgary en route to the gold medal. The Swiss finished fourth.

On Saturday, Swiss goalie Andrea Braendli made 34 saves as the Russians outshot Switzerland 36-24.

Finland 7, Japan 1

Finland will face the United States in the other semifinal on Monday at 8:10 a.m. ET after a convincing win over Japan.

Petra Nieminen led Finland with three goals and two assists.

The Americans beat the Finns 5-2 in the preliminary round.

The U.S. also beat Finland 3-0 in the World Championship semis last year.

Finland will finish in the top four at the Olympics for the sixth time in seven chances.

The Finns have won two in a row after opening the Olympics with three losses in a row.
