Finland is not having ideal preparation for its Milano Cortina 2026 women's hockey opener against Canada.
A team spokesperson told Reuters on Wednesday that four players are battling the stomach flu. Because of that, team practice was cancelled.
Canada faces Finland on Thursday (3 p.m. ET / noon PT, CBC Gem, Sportsnet+) in the first game of the Olympics for both sides.
Canada is the reigning Olympic champ, while Finland won bronze at the past two Winter Games.
Meanwhile, Finland named Vancouver Goldeneyes forward Michelle Karvinen as team captain. Ottawa Charge defender Ronja Savolainen and University of Minnesota defender Nelli Laitinen are assistant captains.
