Simone Biles has officially withdrawn from the vault and uneven bars event finals at the Tokyo Olympics, USA Gymnastics announced on Friday night.
Biles, who cited the need to improve her mental health after stepping back from two other events earlier this week, initially withdrew from the women’s team final. The U.S. ended up winning silver in the event.
Biles stated she was shaking before the team final and that she withdrew after realizing that the “mental’s not there.”
The star gymnast also withdrew from the individual all-around competition.
