Three Canadians have qualified for the men’s freestyle ski halfpipe final at the Beijing Olympics.
Calgary’s Noah Bowman finished fifth, Brendan Mackay of Calgary was sixth and Simon d’Artois of Whistler, B.C., was eighth in Thursday’s qualifier, earning berths in the 12-person final on Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Americans took three of the top four positions in qualifying, including No. 1 Aaron Blunck.
Bowman has finished fifth at the past two Olympics.
Mackay is making his Olympic debut. He won two World Cup events in his hometown earlier this season and leads the 2021-22 standings.
D’Artois won silver in the halfpipe at last year’s World Championship. He was 13th at the 2018 Olympics.
