ATHLETICS
Men’s T53 100 — Brent Lakatos, Dorval, Que., won the gold medal in 14.44 seconds. Jean-Philippe Maranda, Ste-Aurelie. Que., finished 16th in his heat and did not advance.
Men’s F44 javelin — Alister McQueen, Calgary, won the silver medal with a throw of 55.56 metres.
Women’s F11 discus — Ness Murby, Salt Spring Island, B.C., finished sixth in the final with a throw of 28.02 metres.
Men’s T54 5,000 — Josh Cassidy, Port Elgin, Ont., finished seventh in his heat and advanced to the final on Sunday.
CYCLING (TRACK)
Men’s C1 3,000 individual pursuit — Ross Wilson, Sherwood Park, Alta., won the silver medal after losing the final to Zhangyu Li, China.
Men’s C2 3,000 individual pursuit — Tristen Chernove, Powell River, B.C., won the silver medal after losing the final to Guihua Liang, China.
Men’s C3 3,000 individual pursuit — Michael Sametz, Calgary, lost the bronze medal race.
GOALBALL
Women — Canada lost 12-4 to Turkey in its opening preliminary-round game.
Men — Canada lost 11-3 to Brazil in its opening preliminary-round game.
ROWING
LTA Mixed Coxed Four — Victoria Nolan, Toronto; Meghan Montgomery, Winnipeg; Andrew Todd, Thunder Bay, Ont.; Curtis Halladay, Sudbury, Ont. and coxswain Kristen Kit, St. Catharines, Ont., finished third in their heat to advance to the repechage.
SWIMMING
Women’s S10 50 freestyle — Aurelie Rivard, St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que., won the gold medal in a world-record 27.37 seconds. Samantha Ryan, Saskatoon, finished 18th in her heat and did not advance.
Men’s S7 50 freestyle — Jean-Michel Lavalliere, Quebec City, finished 10th in his heat and did not advance.
Women’s S7 50 freestyle — Tess Routliffe, Caledon, Ont., finished fifth in the final in 33.89. Sarah Mehain, Vernon, B.C., finished seventh in 34.57.
Men’s S6 50 butterfly — Nathan Clement, West Vancouver, finished seventh in the final in 33.13.
Men’s S10 50 freestyle — Nathan Stein, Surrey, B.C., finished fifth in the final in 24.00. Alec Elliot, Kitchener, Ont., finished eighth in 24.84. Isaac Bouckley, Port Hope, Ont., finished 13th in his heat and did not advance.
Women’s S9 400 freestyle — Katarina Roxon, Corner Broook, N.L., finished 11th in her heat and did not advance.
Women’s S8 100 butterfly — Danielle Dorris, Moncton, N.B., finished 10th in her heat and did not advance.
SITTING VOLLEYBALL
Women — Canada lost to Brazil in its opening preliminary-round game 3-0 (25-7, 25-12, 25-14).
TABLE TENNIS
Women’s Class 7 — Stephanie Chan, Richmond, B.C., beat Anne Barneoud, France, 11-8, 13-11, 11-9, to improve to 1-1 in the preliminary round.
WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL
Men — Canada lost 49-32 to the Netherlands to drop to 0-2 in the preliminary round. Nic Goncin, Edenwold, Sask., led Canada in scoring with 12 points.
WHEELCHAIR TENNIS
Men’s singles — Philippe Bedard, Bromont, Que., lost his first-round match to David Phillipson, Britain, 6-0, 6-1.
