Canadians Voigt, Baird earn medals at snowboard slopestyle World Cup

Canadians Brooke Voigt and Jasmine Baird earned medals on Saturday in a women’s snowboard slopestyle World Cup at Seiser Alm, Italy.

Voigt, of Fort McMurray, Alta., earned silver with 76 points while Baird, of Mississauga, Ont., finished third with 73.25.

Switzerland’s Isabel Derungs topped the podium with a 79.15-point run.

On the men’s side, Toronto’s William Buffey was sixth. Norway’s Markus Olimstad won gold.

Voigt put up the top score in qualifying with 88.25, following by Baird’s 85.75.

The 25-year-old Voigt made her Olympic debut in Pyeongchang last February, finishing 21st in slopestyle and 17th in big air.
