Eugenie Bouchard eliminated from doubles after loss at Rio 2016

Eugenie Bouchard lost her match on Tuesday.

Eugenie Bouchard’s run for an Olympic gold medal is over as the 22-year-old, along with partner Gabriela Dabrowski, was eliminated from the women’s doubles tournament in Rio on Tuesday afternoon.

Bouchard and Dabrowski won the first set 7-6 but dropped two consecutive sets — 6-2, 6-4 — to lose their second-round match to Lucie Safarova and Barbora Strycova of Czech Republic.

Dabrowski and Bouchard won their opening match of the tournament, beating Poland’s Klaudia Jans-Ignacik and Paula Kania in three sets on Sunday.

Bouchard was also eliminated from singles competition on Monday, when she dropped her second-round match to Germany’s Angelique Kerber.
