Team Finland suffered a major blow Friday, as Mikko Koivu will miss the Olympics.

“I don’t feel healthy enough,” Koivu told reporters at the Xcel Energy Center.

The Minnesota Wild captain has been out of action since early January after he underwent surgery to repair a broken ankle suffered in a Jan. 4 game against the Washington Capitals.

Koivu, who is arguably Team Finland’s best forward, won a silver medal at the 2006 Games and a bronze in Vancouver in 2010.

The news comes on the same day it was announced Tampa Bay Lightning forward Valtteri Filppula was pulled from Team Finland with a fractured ankle.

Team Finland officials have not named replacements for Koivu or Filppula.
