EDMONTON — Oliver Vikalo had a hat trick as Canada raced out to an early lead and never looked back in its 13-5 victory over Argentina on Wednesday at the Olympic qualifying tournament of men’s water polo.
Nicolas Constantin-Bicari, Justin Boyd and Devon Diggle all scored twice for Canada (3-0-0), while Constantine Kudaba, Luka Gasic and Jared McElroy added singles.
Gonzalo Echenique had a pair of goals for Argentina (0-1-3), while Ramiro Veich, Ivan Martin Carabantes and Ramiro Gil also scored.
The Canadians scored five goals in the first quarter for an early 5-1 lead. They never looked back to remain perfect in the tourney.
Canada is in a tie with Spain for first in the tournament’s Group B.
Four teams from the 11-country tournament will earn Olympic berths.
Canada’s next game is on Thursday against the Spanish.
