Things didn't go as planned to start for the Canadian contingent in the Open Championship.
Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ont., Corey Conners of Listowel, Ont., Hamilton's Mackenzie Hughes, and Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C., all struggled out of the gate Thursday at the final major tournament of the season, taking place at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland.
Pendrith (four-over 75, T-118th), Conners (three-over 74, T-100th), Taylor (six-over, T-134th) and Hughes (eight-over 79, T-151st) are all in the danger zone following the conclusion of their opening rounds.
Denmark's Jacob Skov Olesen, China's Li Haotong, England's Matt Fitzpatrick and South Africa's Christiaan Bezuidenhout all share the lead at four-under 67.
