A pair of Hall of Famers are headed to Calgary — along with a $1 million donation.
Ernie Els and Colin Montgomerie have been added to the field of the Rogers Charity Classic, the only Canadian stop on the Champions Tour.
Meanwhile, Rogers announced it is donating $1 million to support children's charities across Alberta.
"Every year the Rogers Charity Classic makes a monumental impact on communities, families and children in Alberta," said Terrie Tweddle, Rogers' chief brand and communications officer. "We are proud to help bring this locally renowned event to life, and to continue supporting children’s charities across Alberta."
The tournament, which will run from Aug. 15-17, is coming off a record-setting 2024 event which raised $25.4 million for Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink.
The Rogers Charity Classic has raised $137.7 million since its inception, and will match up to 50 per cent of donations to participating charities through August.
"Our goal from day one for the Rogers Charity Classic was to bring a family-friendly professional sporting event to Calgary to support the many incredible children’s charities in our community," said tournament chair Jim Riddell.
"Rogers has led the way in helping us achieve that goal and this generous donation is further proof that we are all committed to building on our legacy of giving."
Els, a former world No. 1 and a four-time major winner, will tee off at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club for the second straight year.
He finished in a tie for 10th in 2024.
Scotland's Montgomerie was runner-up in his first appearance at the event in 2015 and finished sixth in 2016.
The captain of the Ryder Cup-winning European squad in 2010 will be looking for his eighth Champions Tour title and first since 2019.
Four major champions — Vijay Singh, David Toms, Darren Clarke and David Duval — have already committed to the tournament, in addition to Canadians Mike Weir and Stephen Ames.
