Manchester United are not waiting long to replace outgoing manager Erik ten Hag, with multiple reports indicating that Sporting Lisbon’s Rúben Amorim is in line for the position.
According to a report by The Athletic, the English giants will pay 10 million euros ($15 million) to release him from his obligations with the Portuguese club, which was due to run for another year and a half.
The 39-year-old Amorim has been in charge at Portugal's Sporting Lisbon since March 2020, accruing a 170-34-33 W-D-L record, while leading the club to two league titles.
Ten Hag was fired Monday with United sitting 14th in the 20-team Premier League. Amorim has previously interviewed or been considered for jobs with Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham.
