Less than a week into training camp, Boston is making official additions to its fleet.
The 40th pick in the 2024 draft, defender Hadley Hartmetz, has signed a one-year contract with the Fleet, the team announced Friday.
“Hadley is an exciting add to our D-core,” said Boston Fleet general manager Danielle Marmer in a statement issued by the team. “She fits nicely into our physical, hard-defending style, while also providing transportability and offensive involvement. She brings a competitiveness and work ethic that will push her teammates and make us better."
Hartmetz won't play on Nov. 30 for the first game of the season because she sustained a lower-body injury in March while playing for Ohio State. There is no timeline for her return.
"We're fortunate to be in Boston where we have access to the best medical resources to allow Hadley to not only recover but to continue her development, so she comes back even stronger than before," Marmer said.
Hartmetz is a two-time NCAA national champion (2022, 2024) with Ohio State and has also earned both gold (2019) and silver (2018) medals with the U.S. U18 National Team.
