Another member of the Iginla family is set to ply her trade in the big leagues.
Jade Iginla, daughter of Hockey Hall of Famer Jarome, has signed a one-year contract with PWHL Hamilton ahead of the team's inaugural season, the team announced Tuesday.
Iginla was picked by the expansion franchise in the second round (18th overall) in the 2026 PWHL Draft.
“Jade is exactly the type of player we want as part of the foundation of PWHL Hamilton,” PWHL Hamilton general manager Meghan Duggan said in a press release. “She has demonstrated throughout her time at Brown that she can produce offensively, compete at a high level and, importantly, lead a team."
Prior to joining the professional ranks, Iginla played at Brown University in in the NCAA. Over her four years playing collegiate hockey, she picked up 99 points (56 goals, 43 assists) in 123 games and served as the team's captain in her senior season.
"Serving as captain is a tremendous responsibility, and Jade embraced that role while continuing to be one of the team’s top offensive contributors," Duggan said. "We’re excited about the skill and competitiveness she brings to our forward group, and we believe she has all the qualities to make an impact in our inaugural season.”
Iginla was the third Canadian taken in the 2026 draft behind defender Sara Swiderski (Minnesota Frost, ninth overall) and forward Issy Wunder (PWHL Las Vegas, 13th overall).
She's also the second PWHL Hamilton player draftee to sign with the team, joining first-round Finnish defender Nelli Laitinen.
“I’m thrilled to officially sign with PWHL Hamilton,” Iginla said in a release. “I’ve heard so much about how passionate PWHL and Hamilton sports fans are, and I’m looking forward to getting to play in front of them. It’s special to be a small part of building this team from the ground up.”
Puck drops on PWHL Hamilton's inaugural season on Dec. 5 against the Montreal Victoire. The side's regular-season home opener is on Dec. 13 against the Ottawa Charge.
